LaVon Humes, 82, Jamestown, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.

LaVon A. Heiden was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Jamestown, the daughter of Max and Lydia (Hauser) Heiden. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School. She married Clayton E. Humes on Jan. 18, 1947, in Jamestown. She worked as a bookkeeper for more than 40 years for Everetts & Assoc., Jamestown. He died July 11, 2007. She became a resident of Hi-Acres Manor in December 2009. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, and the church circle. She enjoyed playing bridge and cooking.

She is survived by a grandson, Todd Humes, Jamestown; a granddaughter, Corrine Humes, Jamestown; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Clayton; her parents; and two brothers, Walter and Duane.

Services: 11 a.m., Wednesday, First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Kenrad Pederson officiating.
Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. today, Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, in the spring.
