LOCK HAVEN EXPRESS 25 September 2000
Philip M. Welch, 72, of 335 Center St. Lock Haven, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000 in the Lock Haven Hospital. He was born Oct. 7, 1927 in Lock Haven, the son of the late Paul H. and Ada Swisher Welch. Mr. Welch was a World War II Navy veteran and also served in the 82nd Airborne. He had worked in the maintenance department at Hammermill Paper and was a member of the Mill Hall Church of Christ. Surviving are a companion Helen Yarnell; a son James E. Welch of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Phyllis I. Slaterbeck of Lock Haven, three brothers, Edwin Welch of Emporium, Paul D. Welch of Lock Haven, and William H. Welch of Fairpoint; two sisters, Isabelle E. Pons of Lock Haven and Millicent Foster of San Fernando Valley, Cal; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bradford Welch, and a sister, Helen L. Bowes. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 26, 2000, 11am at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, 231 High Street, Flemington, PA. Officiating, Rev. Make Riley. Interment in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Phillip was a descendant of the following Mayflower Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth, MA in 1620. He was a 7G Grandson of William Bradford and a 8G Grandson of John Billington.
