Edwin H. Welch, a well known civil engineer, died at his home, No. 17 East Park Street, at 12:30 o'clock this afternoon from arterio-sclerosis, aged nearly 78 years. For the past year Mr. Welch had been in ill health, but only within a few weeks had his condition been regarded as serious. Mr. Welch spent his early life in the country, his home being near Cortland, NY. He was considered an expert civil engineer and for some years was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He also served as city engineer of Lock Haven for several terms. He was an architect of ability and among the buildings in this city for which he drew the plans is the Hand- In-Hand Hose house on Henderson Street. The deceased came to this city about 50 years ago and resided here ever since. He was a zealous member of the Great Island Presbyterian Church and a man of strict integrity who was always pleasant and agreeable in manner. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the house by Rev. C.H. Williamson and interment will be made in Highland Cemetery.
