Major league baseball player 1929-1930. Pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Alfons (Al) Grabowski, who pitched a no-hit game for the St. Louis Cardinals, died Saturday. Mr. Grabowski, of West Dead Creek Road, Memphis, NY, was a native of Syracuse and lived in Memphis 20 years.
A former left-handed pitcher for the Syracuse Stars of the International League, he was with the Cardinals in 1929 and 1930. With a record of nine wins and six losses, he spent most of the 1930 season as a relief pitcher.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Grabowski, he had a younger brother, Reggie, who also made the major baseball league ranks. A righthander, Reggie pitched for Philadelphia from 1932 to 1934 with a 4-8 record. He later pitched for the Syracuse Chiefs and died in 1955.
Mr. Grabowski had been employed at the Camillus Cutlery Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Agnes Wesolowski Grabowski; a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Finnigan; a son, David Grabowski; three brothers, Fabian of Lakeport, Hubert of Cazenovia and George Grabowski, and two grandchildren, Michael and Maureen Finnigan.
Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Giminski Funeral Home, 1320 West Genesee St., and at 8:45 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Prayer services will be at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at the funeral home.
