He was born in Kenney, Texas December 3, 1913 to James Landes "Jim" McNutt and Rosalinde Constance Luhn McNutt. He had an 11th grade education from Brenham High School. There was no 12th grade back then. He never attended college. He worked at a gas station on Hwy 36 in Rosenberg and lived upstairs above the station. He met Angela Joerger at that time. He married Mary Angela Joerger on December 26, 1936. He learned the insurance business and opened Guy L. McNutt Insurance Agency. They had 4 children, Sandra Kay, Darrell Landes, James Francis "Jim", and Mary Constance "Connie". He was Mayor of Rosenberg from 1958-1960. Best Grandfather he could ever be. He worked as hard as he could and was very successful. Everyone in town knew him and remember him fondly to this day. Always kind to everyone and treated his wife Angela like a queen. He taught himself how to play "The Eyes Of Texas" and "The Yellow Rose of Texas" on the piano. He loved to stomp his foot as he played and perform for the Grandkids. I never saw him lose his temper, and only saw him cry once. His favorite song was "The Old Rugged Cross". They don't make 'em like that anymore! According to Tim McNutt, all four boys loved to play "42"...("42" is a dominoes game.....usually have multiple tables of 4 playing and winners end up playing winners.....lots of fun!...Thanks to Lisa Miller McNutt for the definition!) Guy and Angela loved to be surrounded by family. All of the holidays were spent at their house and they spent many nights hosting "Poker Dinners" and other events with their friends! They were very popular!

DeDe Sullivan said: "I remember every Christmas Eve at their house, the presents were piled very high all the way around the tree and Grandma would serve a buffet of "finger foods" on the dining room table and buffet. We had turkey, ham, bread and cheese for little sandwiches, boiled shrimp, relish tray, egg rolls (My Mom added that one!), olives, and lots of deserts. It was the best meal of the year!"

DeDe Sullivan said: "I always loved going to see you at the office. You were always so nice. Best Grandpa ever! After you passed away, they always kept your office exactly like it was when you died. The pictures are still on the desk and everything!"

Donna McNutt said: "DeDe, I will always remember the "twinkle" your granddad always had in his eyes. He always looked like he was just a moment away from creating some sort of mischief!!!"

DeDe Sullivan said: "I remember after you died, Grandma was very sick, but made it through your funeral. She ended up in the hospital afterwards. After your funeral, there was Shultz's BBQ out in their backyard. Everyone just stood there like they were frozen in time. We were in shock over the whole thing. Grandma never slept in your bedroom again, she was always afraid you would come see her as a ghost. She slept upstairs in the front room for the next 6 years until the night she finally joined you in Heaven."

Linda McNutt Wyatt said:
"The thing I remember about Uncle Mac was him playing the piano. He had the "first" electronic keyboard I had ever seen!!! Then when the family was together for Christmas in Bellville, he always "played". There were little gifts for those who could guess the name of the song. When I say little, I mean little....a stick of gum, a marble and such. But at the time it was so much fun. There are many more memories, but that is one of my very favorite."

DeDe Sullivan said: "I loved going to the farm with him when I was little. He would pile Grandma, Mom and I into the car and head to the farm. He would drive around and honk the horn at them. Every cow had a name. Sometimes he would go faster on the bumps so we would bounce around in the back seat! Those were good times!"
