Violet Barber, a native and resident of Bayou La Batre, died Friday at a local health care facility. She was 78.
Barber was a housewife and a member of Community Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, J.W. Barber of Dauphin Island; two sons, Jerry Goleman of Irvington and Ray F. Mitchell Jr. of Macon, Ga.; one daughter, Annette Collier of Irvington; three sisters, Eula Savell of Wilmer and Agnes Swank and Barbara Nell Smith, both of Irvington; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The service is set for 2 p.m. today at Oddfellows Hall, with burial in Oddfellows Cemetery.
Serenity Funeral Home on Old Pascagoula Road is in charge of arrangements.
