Flying Officer / Pilot.

David was the pilot of a Catalina aircraft that was returning at night from a long operational flight and when approaching to land, the aircraft was seen to drop suddenly and strike the water some distance from the landing area. Upon hitting the water, the impact was so great, the aircraft broke up and all but one on board were killed.
