Koesha Keywona Rodgers, "Annie", 11, of Caruthersville, died in August of 1999. She was born March 11, 1988, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, the daughter of Sheryl Crowley and Ronnie Truss, Sr.
Koesha is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ms. Stoby Jean Williams and Mr. Olan Paul Isom; her great grandmothers, Ms. Earnestine Pittman and Mrs. Helen Truss; and two aunts, Mrs. Mabel Kennon and Mrs. Priscilla Crowley.
Survivors include her parents, Mrs. Sheryl Crowley and Mr. Ronnie Truss, Sr. and Mr. A.D. Hamilton; her stepmother, Joann Truss; two sisters, Inga Kelly and Carleta Coats; eight brothers, Derious McIntyre, Larry McIntyre, Ronnie Truss, Jr., Rondrick Truss, Shontez Truss, Branden Truss, Kamoul Mullins and Monterio Truss, grandparents, Mrs. Shirley Truss, Mrs. Bessie Townsend, and Lena hamilton; 12 aunts; three very special friends; three very special cousins and a host of other cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives, plus a dozen friends.
We would like to thank Tacarra Wilson for "Sunshine" and Herman Melton, Jr. for "Song".
Services were held Saturday, December 11, 1999 at the Pentecostal Power New Life Deliverance Temple in Caruthersville, with Rev. Johnny Hood officiating. Interment was in Morgan Ridge Cemetery in Caruthersville.

She was the oldest of 4 children,She was raised by her mother, who later moved the family to Caruthersville, Missouri. It was there that the sweet, lovely little girl was raped and tortured to death.
Koesha was an average student at West Side Elementary School. She was as kind and shy as she was cheerful and adorable. Her cousin described her as a "mama's baby". The short, slim 11-year-old loved to watch cartoons.
Sometime on the night of August 22, 1999, Kevin Orlando Bess gained access to Koesha's home. Koesha's mother was not home when the vicious intruder entered the home. When she returned, she discovered Koesha was missing. Two months later, Koesha's decomposed body was found in a tree line.
Nearly 1000 people attended Koesha's funeral, where there was a closed casket.
Kevin Bess was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for Koesha's murder.
Koesha is remembered as a smiling child whose favorite colors were pink, yellow and orange. She wanted to become a teacher. Her favorite singer was Deborah Cox and her favorite movie was 'Waiting to exhale'.
