Austin Jerry Ben Page left this world on August 28, in Lancaster, Calif. with his family by his side.
Funeral services were held September 3 at Community Church in California City. Calif. Burial was at California City Memorial Park following services.
Jerry Ben Page was born on Jan. 29, 1947 in San Francisco.
He was an Eagle Scout in his youth and rarely missed a summer as a lifeguard throughout his teen years. The son of a military family, he enjoyed living in different places around the world, including Germany and Morocco, while growing up. He graduated from Cheyenne East High School in Cheyenne, Wyo. in 1965. He graduated from Chadron State College ska with a major in history in 1970.
He met and married Kathy Hartman, the love of his life, while in Chadron.
Jerry's dedication to his work and passion for custom car building was exceeded only by his love for his family. He was an active outdoor enthusiast who always greeted each day with a positive outlook on life. His willingness and eagerness to share with friends and strangers about all things mechanical will be missed by many.
After retiring as Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, Jerry became Director of Intelligence at Edwards Air Force Base in California City. He retired in 2008 with 36 years of honorable federal service.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Kathy, son Nathaniel Page of California City, daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Dan Lawhorn of Bakersfield, Calif., two grandchildren; his parents Austin and Rosemary Page of Middletown, R.I., and brother Randy Page of Portsmouth.
He is preceded in death by his brother Navy Lieutenant Rex Page, and parents-in-law Bill and Leah Hartman, long time Chadron residents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Stickel Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
