Foster L. Semple, 85, of Coatesville, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at his home in Coatesville.
Born in Cochranville, he was the son of the late Paul Sr. and Emma Mackey Semple.
He was married to the late Ella Wilson Semple and the late Mary Cox Semple.
A graduate of the former Cochranville High School, Mr. Semple had been employed by Highland Dairy, Capital Bakers, Entenmann's, and First Financial Bank as a courier, retiring at age 79.
He was a member of the V.F.W. of Downingtown and a life member of both Westwood Fire Company and Modenna Fire Company.
He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Lamborn Reese of West Grove, Sandra L. Cross, wife of William Cross, of West Grove, and Emma J. Brooks, wife of James Brooks, of West Grove; and two sons, Foster LeRoy "Roy" Semple, husband of Patricia Semple, of West Chester, and Norman W. Semple, husband of Deborah Semple, of Coatesville.
He is also survived by three stepchildren, Lee Whitman, husband of Gay Whitman, of Christiana, Pa., Shirley Jane Phillips, wife of Henry Phillips, of Coatesville, and Richard Whitman, husband of Ruth Whitman, of Coatesville; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Charles Whitman; and three brothers, Paul, David and Ralph Semple.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, 610-857-5551, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice, 431 S. Walnut St., Kennett Square, PA 19348.
