REIDSVILLE — Mr. William Jackson "Jack" Apple, Jr., 67, died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after a brief illness.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Madison at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 26 with the Rev. Dan Ramsey officiating.

Mr. Apple was born in Reidsville, May 9, 1942. After graduating from Ruffin High School, he joined the U. S. Army where he served as a member of the Military Police for three years. He worked at American Can Corporation for several years before retiring from the Ball Corporation in 2004. He was known for his mechanical abilities and his love of the land, both of which kept him busy during his retirement years.

His father, William Jackson Apple, Sr., son-in-law, Michael Van Thomas, and father and mother-in-law, Alonzo Dillard "Lon" Folger, Jr. Elizabeth "Lib" McAnally Folger, preceded Mr. Apple in death.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Folger Apple; mother, Lillian Tramel Apple; daughters, Tabetha A. DeLancey and husband, Wayne of Reidsville and Lisa Thomas of Madison; brothers, Bobby C. Apple and Curtis M. Apple and wife, Linda; sister, Erlene A. Johnson and husband, Raymond; grandchildren, Caleb I. DeLancey of Reidsville, and Elyse and Clay Thomas of Madison; and sister-in-law, Jane F. Joyce and husband, Van of Greensboro.
