PVT. JOHN L. JOY
KILLED IN GERMANY
Pvt. John L. Joy, 37 years old, was killed in Germany March 16, 1945, according to word received by his wife, Mrs. Anna Joy, 1439 Spruce street. He was fighting with the 97th Infantry Division, a part of the 1st Army.
Before Pvt. Joy entered the services in March, 1943, he was employed at the Pennsylvania Railroad roundhouse here. He went overseas one year ago, and was wounded on D-Day in Normandy, but recovered in about three months and after a rest returned to active duty.
Besides the widow, he is survived by his father, John L. Joy, 1415 First avenue; Delbert Joy of Tucson, Aliz., and E/Sgt. Lester O. Joy, with the famous 38th Cyclone Infantry Division in the Philippines, and a sister, Mrs. Marvin Caserotti of Whitcomb Heights.
