Daughter of Albert G and Mary (Sinz) Maurer, 'Buffy' was raised in Glenbeulah until her parents moved to the larger town of Sheboygan in 1889. She attended normal school in Milwaukee and began teaching elementary school in Sheboygan in 1896. She married Fred C Voigt on Dec 2, 1907 and they had two sons, Frederick in 1911 and Henry in 1916.
Buffy was a founder and the first president of the Sheboygan County Republican Women's Federation, a lifelong party supporter and a leader in the county. She also served as chairman of the American Legion, Ladies' Auxiliary, 1934-35, her husband Fred having served in both the Spanish-American War and World War I. Although she didn't travel extensively, she enjoyed several trips to Washington, DC and New Castle, Del to visit her sons and their families as well as her brother Rob Maurer. Her grandchildren enjoyed her stories of childhood treks on foot and by horse-drawn carriage to her grandmother's house in rural Johnsonville, Wisconsin, reminiscent of 'Little House on the Prairie' tales.
