Shana was adopted at the age of 2 by Joseph and Diane Rubin of La Mesa, CA. She grew up in their home with her older brother, Danny Rubin. During her childhood, Shana converted to Judaism. She spoke and read Hebrew. Her first marriage was to Daniel Pozner. They had one daughter, Kelly Melissa Pozner. Her second marriage was to David Coleman. They also had one daughter, Reina Michelle Coleman.

Shana was loved by all who knew her. More than a hundred people attended her funeral. She left us all, at far too young an age (30), joining her beloved mother, Diane, in Heaven. There, she has also been reunited with her faithful dog of 17 years, Taffy.

Shana's loved ones miss her and think of her often, especially her children. To Shana, her children were the most important things in life. She was buried holding two small pictures, one of Kelly at age 11 and one of Reina at age 7.
