Ella Mae is the youngest child of Martha and "Kyle" Byrd. Her oldest brother is, Everette Lawton (1882-1937), Leon (1884-1919), Edna (1887-1945). Life was a struggle as with many others at that time. Ella married John Curtis Hart in 1911 or 1912. Ella announced to her family in early 1913 that she and Curtis were having their first child later that year. On Nov. 7th, 1913, what should have been a blessed event, the baby girl she had just given birth to died. Ella never got over the loss of her daughter. What had seemed to many to be a happy marriage, was not. In less than 2 years after losing "Jonnie", Ella died. Her family struggled to get over this double tragedy, but life for Martha would never be the same. I have been unable to find the path that Curtis Hart took after Ella's death, but would like to find out.
