Phillip Newland Jr.

ALGER - Services for Phillip (Duke) Newland, Jr., 62, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hanson Funeral Home, Rev. D. Ray Miller officiating.

He was dead on arrival at 5:51 p.m. Friday at Lima Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born Jan. 11, 1914, in Logan County, he was the son of Phillip and Leona Newland. He married Cleo DeLong in 1945 and she survives.

He was a retired TV repairman and also operated a television service and sales in Ada. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include four sons, Phillip A. and Russell E., both of Harrod and Larry Patton of Tallahassee, Fla., LaVerne L. of here; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Dana) Allen of Harrod, Mrs. Earnest (LaVada) Anderson of Vaughnsville and Mrs. Ronald (Nancy) Price of Rt. 3, Columbus Grove; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, Billie of Kenton and Robert of Rt. 1, Alger; and a sister, Bertha Newland of Florida.

Burial will be in Preston Cemetery east of here.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
