George received a $1.00 reward for killing a noxious animal - a weasel, in Lower Chanceford Township, York County. On 9 June 1908 he appeared before Justice of the Peace J. S. Posey who certified that the entire pelt was produced and the ears thereof cut off and burned by me in presence of the said George Rittenhouse and witnessed by J. George David Rittenhouse - residing in Windsor Township, near Freysville, died this morning at 6 o'clock, of heart trouble. He was 66 years, 2 months and 9 days old. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. After brief services at the home the funeral cortege will proceed to Bethel Methodist Episcopal church, near Conrads, where concluding services will be held. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Surviving him besides his wife are the following children: Mrs. David Rettero(Rettew), Mrs. Caris Stark, Columbia; William H. Rittenhouse, Collam, and Mrs. Harry Shenberger, York, and the following brothers and sisters; John Rittenhouse, York; Harry Rittenhouse, Reading; Samuel Rittenhouse, Huntingdon, Pa.; Mrs. Susan Mundorf, Bainbridge, Pa.; Mrs. Florence Kline, Columbia; Mrs. Rose Morrow, Coatesville. Twenty-five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive him. Rev. Dr. Jerome M. Guss, pastor of Grace Lutheran church, assisted by Rev. C. H. Klepper, pastor of Bethel church, officiated. The pallbearers were Harold Leiphart, Ralph Graham, Carl Wallace, George Ritz, William Shelly and J. W.
