Her family lived in Muskogee, Oklahoma where her father owned and operated the second-largest Coca-Cola bottling and distribution company in the state.
The family moved to Tulsa in 1930 where she attended Central High school.
She married Ivan Hoover "Van" Van Horn on February 25, 1940. They had two children.
Survivors were her husband Ivan and a son and daughter, five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Virginia Dutro, Tulsa, who was the last of the five Bowlin children to pass on in 1996.
