Gerald A. ‘Jake' Boyd of West Chester

Gerald A. "Jake" Boyd, 62, of West Chester, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, in Chester County Hospital, due to respiratory failure after a long illness.
He was the husband of Kathy White Boyd.
Born in Canton, he was the son of Elizabeth Cole Boyd, of Canton, and the Late Emory Marshall Boyd.
Jake worked as a supervisor for Delta Airline Operations for 33 years, both at Kennedy Airport and at Philadelphia Airport, retiring in 1996.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967.
His many interests included playing the accordian, guitar, organ, Bluegrass music, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, computers, performing magic tricks, cooking, camping and flea markets. He was also a family historian and genealogist.
He will be deeply missed by all of his family.
In addition to his mother and wife, Jake is survived by two sons: Matthew Boyd, of York, and Michael Boyd, of West Chester; grandchildren: Kevin Boyd, of St. Mary's, and Makayla Ashley Boyd, of West Chester; brother, William Boyd, husband, of Alene of Canton; sister, Barbara Boyd, of Towanda; mother-in-law, Catherine White, of West Chester; daughter-in-Law, Yajaira Candelario; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Boyd DiMattei.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral liturgy at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, 610-696-1181, www.drsfh.com.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, and noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
