IONIA SENTINEL STANDARD, Thursday, November 11, 1999: "Obituaries - Margaret Elliott, 86, of Ionia passed away Nov. 10, 1999, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
She was born Nov. 8, 1913, in Berlin Township, the daughter of Harrison and Maysel (Poole) Sherwood.
She married George Coppess on Nov. 6, 1933. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1980. She married Ray Elliott in October 1984. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry and Joan Coppess of Homer, Alaska and David and Kay Coppess of Hill City, SD; daughter, Kathleen and Robert Rush of Ionia; brother, Wayne and Barbara Sherwood of Crystal; sister, Elaine Sheiern of Ionia; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her infant son, George, on Feb. 2, 1954, and son, Kendall Coppess, on Aug. 3, 1999.
Funeral services for Mrs. Elliott will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with the Rev. Ward Pierson officiating. Interment in Sunfield Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to Lakewood United Methodist Church Building Fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home."
