Denise (Trude) Zebell, daughter of Leo and Catherine (Culey) Trude, was born May 25, 1920 at Castlewood, South Dakota. She spent her early years and received her education in Castlewood and graduated from Watertown High School in 1939.

After her marriage to Marvin Zebell on March 20, 1940 in Cherokee, Iowa they lived in Sioux Falls. Denise worked with the Service to the Visually Impaired in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen for 18 years. They lived in Sioux Falls for 32 years before moving to Lake Poinsett in 1972. They moved into Estelline in the mid 1980's and Marvin died on July 31, 1987. She continued to live in Estelline until moving to Parker on February 27, 2005. She died at her residence in Parker on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 17 days. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary. Denise enjoyed fishing and spent many weeks in Canada throughout the years. In her younger years she also enjoyed hunting and she and Marvin wintered in the south for many years.

Grateful for having shared her life are three sons, Douglas Zebell and his wife Rose Marie of Cranberry, PA, James Zebell and his wife Dot of Parker, SD and Jeff Zebell of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; seven step brothers and sisters from the Trude family, Kenny, Karen, Leo Jr.,, Beth, Larry, David and Gary; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother.
