Daughter of William James Kilbourne (1841 – 1931) of Louisiana and Laura May Gayden (sometimes spelled Gaydon) (1844 – 1900) of Mississippi, she and brother William, of whom we have no record past 1870, were born in Louisiana, while their younger siblings were born in Mississippi.
Both the Gayden and Kilbourne families were descended from patriots of the Revolutionary War, having been in what became the United States for generations. Their relatives and descendants even by the late 1800's had spread across the entire continent.
Unfortunately the original memorial for William James Kilbourne was removed, for reasons unknown. We believe he is buried in Monroe, LA. Laura Gayden Kilbourne is buried in Greenville, MS.
