Lowell was born November 12, 1927 in Prole, IA to Carroll and Berniece Alexander. He served in the U.S. Navy as a cryptographer. Lowell began farming in the early 1950's and was also a bus driver for Greyhound for 33 years. Lowell enjoyed playing pool, fishing and boating.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Deloris; son, Dennis (Maureen) Alexander; daughter, Sheryl (Edwin) Bartholomew; step-daughters, Leanne Howell, Kimberly (Richard) Williamson, Goldine (Richard) Bainter, Irene Sparks and Lori (Paul) Yarges; sisters, Kathryn Herbst and Carol Ann (Jerry) Hall; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
