He had three known siblings, all of whom died. Sister Mary E. (Find A Grave Memorial# 24815983) who died of TB in 1927 & was never married and two unnamed siblings who died in infancy.
Little is known about Edward. He was "discovered" by me in 2007 during a random search of the Providence Journal newspaper archived issues on line.
During my random search I had found a notice published in 1987 in which the State of RI was seeking relatives of an Edward J. Peloquin son of Arthur & Delia Peloquin who had died at the RI Medical Center General Hospital, Howard Complex, Cranston, RI where he had been a patient since 1917.
The State of RI only keeps the hospital records for a period of 10 years after a patient's death. I was just four months too late in 2007 & learned that the records were already destroyed.
Unfortunately because of the destruction of Edward's records, the reason for his lifelong hospitalization will never be known.
Whatever was wrong with Edward & the cause of his hospitalization must not have been too severe since he is found twice on the 1920 federal census. Once at home during what may have been a home visit and again at the state hospital.
He was enumerated on 14 Jan in Providence with his parents & sister Mary and a second time as a patient during the period of "January to Feb 7" at what was then known as the State Hospital for Mental Diseases.
I learned from the oldest member of the Peloquin family still living that at the time of Edward's death in 1987, our branch of the family had been unaware of Edward's existance until someone spotted the newspaper notice and recognized his parents' names.
Since there was no one left in Edward's birth family, our branch claimed Edward's remains and arranged for burial.
