He died shortly before the 19OO census, leaving his widow Lucinda Polston with three sons and one daughter:
Simon Edgar Daggett, Christopher Columbus Daggett, John Harrison Daggett and Effie Adelia Daggett. Lucinda died shortly thereafter and the children were raised by their maternal grandparents - Louisa "Lue" Lockamy and Harrison Polston.
John and Cindy are buried on the back side of the Cemetery below the picnic pavillion near the fence row. They are buried next to her brother and and sister-in-law Frank and Belle Polston.
A recent stone placed in honor of Frank and Belle at the foot of a white oak overlaps the burial place of Belle's sister and brother-in-law. Both couples are buried side by side in that space.
