MOREHEAD - Gladys Louise Stamper Brown, age 81, of Donna Street, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at her residence.
She was born September 26, 1926, in Haldeman, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Mose Greene and Sarah Black Stamper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, William Greene, Arnold, Van, David, Ruben, and Other Stamper, and five sisters, Velva Harris, Ruth Schmit, Dixie Barker, Darlene Stamper, and Betty Jordan.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Othie Brown, and one infant daughter, Paula Kaye Brown.
Mrs. Brown is survived by three daughters, Donna Penix of Nashville, Tennessee, Priscilla Fouch and husband Gary of Clearfield, Kentucky, and Valerie Brown of Clearfield, Kentucky; one son, Jeff Brown of Euless, Texas; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Morehead State University. She was a retired social worker in Tennessee, and prior to moving to Tennessee worked in Head Start and senior citizen programs in the Morehead area. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, housekeeping, flowers, and gardening. Mrs. Brown was a member of "The Father's House" in LaVergne, Tennessee.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Pennington and the Rev. John Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsill Cemetery at Haldeman.
Pallbearers were Rodney Fouch, Mike Pierce, Ron Penix, Marcus McCleese, Travis McCleese, Bill Stamper, and Mike Stamper.
Visitation was after 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
