Funeral services for Jerry James Burdett, 76, Shirley, Ark., were Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Burdett died at 9:25 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Little Rock, Ark. He was born June 28, 1933, at San Mateo, Calif., to Gerald George Burdett and Bertha Gentile Burdett Collins. Mr. Burdett was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. Before his retirement, Mr. Burdett worked as a welder in building ships and tankers. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by four children, Gerald James Burdett of King George, Va., Matthew Robert Burdett of Las Vegas, Nev., Laura Lee Green of Ogden, Utah, and Kelly Hollon of Dayton, Ohio; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, David Collins of West Plains, Mo.; one sisters, Rosalee Adams of Pleasant Hope, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; one daughter, Carolyn; and one brother, Roy Burdett, precede him in death. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery near Pomona, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Cemetery or American Cancer Society and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
