Walter E. Kershaw, 51, of Cedar Lake Rd., Chester. The man that touched us all. Husband of Cynthia (Nylin) Kershaw, died Monday (Nov. 11, 1996) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Priscilla (Hick) Kershaw of Rocky Hill and the late Ernest Kershaw. Mr. Kershaw was a graduate of Rocky Hill High School and was a Navy Veteran of Vietnam. He had owned operated Hick's Service Station in Rocky Hill for over 25 years, along with his late uncle Tom Hick. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Meghan Kershaw of Rocky Hill and Beth Kershaw of New Platz, NY; a sister, Mrs. Ken (Gail) Rogers of Santa Cruz, CA; five step-children, S/Sgt. Mark Gstell and his wife Uschi of Ft. Riley, KA, Scott Gstell and his wife, Patti of Tampa, FL, Michelle Sutley and her husband, Russ of Kenneshaw, GA, Laura Williams of Chester and Brian Williams of Chester; a grandson, Patrick Gstell of Ft. Riley, KA and a nephew, Ezra Manners of Santa Cruz, CA. He will be missed by many. Memorial services to celebrate his life will be at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 331 Orchard St., Rocky Hill, Friday, (Nov.15), 11 a.m. The Rev. Willilam Veinot, rector will officiate and interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Church of the Rocky Hill Congregational Church, 805 Old Main St., Rocky Hill, 06067. The Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main St., Cromwell, is in charge of arrangements.
