A native of Coalgate, Oklahoma, Mr. Wheat resided in Mauriceville since 1956. He was a retired supervisor for DuPont Sabine River Works in Orange and had also served in the Texas National Guard. He was a member of Madison Lodge 126 AF & AM, Scottish Rite, and Cornerstone Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ilona Wheat; and brother, Danny Wheat. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bennie C. "Penny" Wheat of Mauriceville; sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest, Jr. and Ramona Miller also of Mauriceville, and Terry and Hollie Wheat, USN, of San Antonio; daughter, Dianna Miller of Dallas; brother and sister-in-law, Lanny and Lynda Wheat of Orange; sister and brother-in-law, LaQuinta and Murl Bishop of West Orange; and grandchildren, Sean Miller, USAF, Jake Wheat, and Ashley Wheat of San Antonio, Justin Menard of Little Cypress, and Jenny Menard of Mauriceville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Menard, Sean Miller, Jason Bishop, Lawrence Beck, Jerry Pittman, and Johnathan Kellis. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
