Thank You for your visit to our beloved Grandma Catherine. We appreciate that you thought of her. God bless.

༺⊰❁ Catherine Peterson Briggs was born in 1770 in Virginia, and was the daughter of John Michael "Hans" and Susannah Weiss Peterson. Catherine married John Marion Briggs, farmer and Overmountain man who fought in the battle of King's Mountain.
Known children of John Marion and Catherine Peterson Briggs:
1) John Marion Briggs, Jr., b. October 11, 1795, Pendleton County, Virginia (now West Va.); d. March 24, 1891 in Aldrich, Polk County, Missouri. 1st Married Nancy Hempleman 1818. 2nd Married Susanna Carr 1839. 3rd Married Juliann (Harter) Woolery 1846.
2) Samuel Briggs, b. January 15, 1797, Pendleton County, Virginia (now West Va.); d. September 08, 1850, Ross County, Ohio. Married Elizabeth M Hempleman. After Samuel's death Elizabeth married Jacob Kizer.
3) Mary "Polly" Briggs, b. 1800 in Pendleton County, Virginia (now West Va.); death 1840 in Morgan County, Ohio, USA. Married James Garvin.
4) Elizabeth Briggs Powell, b. October 8, 1803, West Virginia, USA; d. October 20, 1834, Ohio, USA. Married William Powell. After Elizabeth died William married Mary Jane Anderson in 1836.
5) Eli Briggs, b. 1805 in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio, USA; death possibly May 11, 1860 in Ohio, USA. Married Mary Ann Vickers. I am not sure Eli is the son of John Marion and Catherine Peterson Briggs, but it is a possibility. Not enough records to decide either way at this time.
6) Lydia Briggs, b. 1810 in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio, USA; death January 9, 1849 in Madison County, Ohio, USA. Married Zebadee Nagley.
7) Jacob Briggs, b. August 30 1811 in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio, USA; death September 1, 1891 in Henning, Vermilion County, Illinois, USA. Married Lodema Hale.
8) Delilah "Delilia" Briggs, b. April 22, 1814 in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio; d. April 22, 1814 in South Charleston, Clark County, Ohio.

May dear Grandma Catherine rest in the loving peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
