She was born in Hounslow, Middlesex, England (now the site of the Heathrow Airport, Greater London). She came to Canada with her parents when seven years old. She married James Lush in Guelph, Canada. The family moved, in late 1864, to Bureau County, Illinois, United States of America where James' brother-in-law, Richard Hornby previously had moved. They soon returned to Canada. In 1866 they moved back to the U.S., settling in Indiana, near Crown Point. Later they moved back to Bureau County, Illinois. In the fall of 1866 they lived near Sheffield where their last child was born. An 1876 plat map of Concord Township, Bureau County, Illinois shows Richard Hornby with 160 acres on the southern edge of section 9. Modern Interstate Highway 80 runs accross the northern part of the former Hornby farm. The 1880 census shows James and Frances living with their son, Israel, in Princeton Township, Bureau County, Illinois. She died in Buchanan Township, Page County near Shambaugh, Iowa
