[consolidated from memorial 131381179] Born in Virginia, Harrison County. The county later became a part of West Virginia during the Civil War. He was last documented in 1885 in Warren County, Iowa with wife Hannah and children Jesse R Martin (21), Lincoln Martin (20) and George W Martin (17). HIS DEATH YEAR OF 1890 comes from the obituary of second wife Hannah. Further research finally let to a record of his burial at McDivitt Grove in Urbandale. His death date was also found in that record.

Detailed bio: Husband of Janette Anne Wood, twin sister to Alexander Wood, Jr. Brother Isaac in 1832, married her younger sister, Florenda Wood (who walked from near Winchester following drowning of their father in 1830), in Harrison county, Virginia (West Virginia created 1863). 1840 Federal census, it appears that the household is made up of: two white males under 5 years of age (Emory and George), one white male, over 5 but under 10 years of age (Alexander), one white male, over 30 but under 40 years of age (John B.), one white female under 5 (Elizabeth); one white female over 5, but under 10 (Jane A.), one white female over 10, but under 15 (Martha Eleanor), one white female over 30, but under 40 (Janett Anne). 1850 Census: Age 42 Harrison County, Virginia, Occupation: farmer 1850 Harrison County, Virginia . Father: Levi Martin b: ABT 1779 in Hampshire County, Virginia. Mother: Elizabeth Bennett b: 1785. Marriage: Janett Anne (twin) Wood b: 29 OCT 1805 in Frederick County, Virginia. Married: 28 JAN 1828.
