Houstonia – John Robert Cornine, 83 died Monday at Bothwell Hospital, where he had been a patient since February 27.

He was born in Pettis County, March 6, 1895, son of Wesley and Delilah Jane Grissum Cornine. On April 3, 1920, at Sedalia, he married Ida Mae Mullins, who survives of the home here.

Mr. Cornine was a veteran of World War I. He spent all of his life in Pettis County and was a farmer. He was a member of the Berea Christian Church.

Other survivors include three sons: John Junior Cornine, Marshall; J.R. Cornine, Hughesville; Delmar Cornine, Houstonia; six daughters, Mrs. Lona Mae Courtney, Oskaloosa, Kansas; Mrs. Mable Walker, Nelson; Mrs. Connie Bellis, Granada Hills, California; Mrs. Delilah Jane Mercer, Little Rock, Arkansas; Mrs. Lavina Ann Neale, Westlake, California; Mrs. Nancy Darleen Pepper, Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. Stelly Morris, East Alton, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Dial, Nelson; Mrs. Josie Buckley, Belle Plaine, Iowa; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewing Funeral Home in Sedalia with the Rev. W.A. McVey officiating.

Burial will be in the Berea Cemetery, North of Sedalia.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
