John grew up on a farm in Finland. He came to Worcester, Massachusetts and became a wire worker at American Steel & Wire. Then he went to the Klondike gold fields circa 1898. After that he bought a farm on Fisher Street in Westborough, Massachusetts where he raised a large family and many agricultural crops, chickens and live stock.
