She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, was raised on the Lukko family farm on Fisher Street in Westborough, but lived most of her life in Worcester. She worked in the garment business until she met and married Folke Peterson. She and her family spent many a happy weekend back on the family farm. She moved to Springfield, Massachusetts when her husband's job moved to Palmer. In later years she loved to visit her grandchildren in East Glastonbury, Connecticut.
