Rites Held Sunday for F. P. Merryman

Funeral services for Frank Presley Merryman, 71, of Colmesneil, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Edwards Funeral Home. The Rev. Drew Sheffield and the Rev. B. P. Williams officiated. Burial was in Colmesneil Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

Pallbearers were A. G. Walker, Jim Sturrock, Gene Alegree, George Downing, and R. F. and Bobby Bendy. Members or the Yellow Pine Masonic Lodge were honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Merryman died at 6:15 p.m. Friday in Tyler County Hospital after an illness of one year.

A native of Franklin, he had lived in Colmesneil seven years after retiring from Jefferson Chemical Co. in Port Neches.

He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Yellow Pine Masonic Lodge and of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 1068. He was a deacon in Bethany Baptist Church near Colmesneil.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Scott Merryman, three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Maddox of Topeka, KS, Mrs. G. C. Kube of Port Arthur, and Mrs. J. M. Leftwich of Danville, VA, two sons, Sgt F. O. Merryman, Jr, of Key West, FL, and A. T. Merryman of Port Neches, half-sister, Mrs. Dodson Starks of Hearne, one stepbrother, J. K. Colton of Franklin, one stepsister, Mrs. J. P. Munn of Austin, 11 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Heart Fund.
