Irene Laurentia Bush

Longtime Kasilof resident Irene Laurentia Bush died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 84.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Mile 15 of Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Pastor Ray Boutwell will officiate.

Mrs. Bush was laid to rest at the Territorial Way Memorial Park in Kasilof.

She was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Capa City, S.D. She was raised as a Baptist and graduated from high school. Mrs. Bush moved to Kasilof in 1959, where she lived until her death.

She was a school bus driver for nine years and drove the Swanson River Road to Kenai route. She was awarded the safe driving plaque by Chevron USA for 330,000 miles without an accident.

"She was a loving wife of 67 years. A mother beyond measure with an open heart and home to all. She enjoyed children, gardening and card games," her family said.

Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her sons, Bill and Ed Bush; brothers, Eugene and Dean Ruch; sister, Julia Fabian; and son-in-law, James Gossett.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Bush of Kasilof; son, James Bush of Kasilof; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Wilda Bush of Kasilof; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Gossett and Chuck Perrill of Soldotna; sons, Donald, Ronald and David Bush, all of Kasilof; son and daughter-in-law, John and Diane Bush of Soldotna; and 64 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, most in Alaska.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
