Obituary: The New Iberian, June 15, 1978

Mary Alice Barr, a daughter of John William and Elizabeth Rothmal Jarrett, was born December 7, 1886 at Iberia and passed away June 9, 1978 at Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. At the time of her death she was 91 years, 7 months and 2 days of age. On October 25, 1908, at Iberia, she was united in marriage to George L. Barr who preceded her in death on January 3, 1976. A member of the Fairview Christian Church, Mrs. Barr was a life-long resident of Miller County.

Those surviving include: four sons, Elmer, Joe and Robert, all of Louisville, Kentucky, and Carrell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Bollinger of Garrettsville, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Weeks of Eldon, Mo., and Mrs. Mildred Weitz of Tuscumbia, Mo.; one brother, Will Jarrett of Iberia; one sister, Mrs. Emma Sloan of the state of Illinois. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was conducted at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia Monday, June 12, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Earl Basil Brown officiating. Oleva Slawson was at the organ and she and Mrs. Iris Burks sang. Pallbearers were Don Jarrett, Ellis Jarrett, Ron Shreve, Jim Weitz, Jim Burks and Bradley Watkins.
