Mrs. Hembree Services Set
Mrs. Maggie I. Hembree, of 5930 Monticello, a 103-year-old Dallas woman who maintained a perfect voting record and regular church attendance until her 100th year, died here Thursday.
Mrs. Hembree voted in every election from the time women won the right to vote in 1920 until her mobility was reduced after a 1971 hospitalization.
James M. Cox received her first vote on Nov. 2, 1920, as part of the straight Democratic ticket she backed for 51 years.
The widow of a Baptist minister, she was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Dallas at the time of her death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Restland Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters.
