Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen. The Rev. Matt Ferguson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, will officiate with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ms. Whitman was born on Jan. 24, 1920, in Panama, the daughter of the late Henry and Aria (Beitlarr) Hoekstra. She was a graduate of Coffeen High School and St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield.
During her life, she lived in Panama, Coffeen, and Hillsboro where she worked as an RN at Hillsboro Area Hospital for many years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro.
She is survived by a son, Robert F. (wife Barb) Whitman of Mt. Zion; three grandchildren, Adrianna (husband Kent) Sharp of Decatur, Stacey (husband Bill) Giese of Maroa, and Shannon (husband Tony) Antonelli of Mt. Zion; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill (wife Beth) Hoekstra of Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Frank and Corky Hoekstra.
