Ida Benzillar "Bennie" Carrington, was the daughter of Gilbert Paul & his second wife, Tyresa (Brown) Carrington. Bennie's father was serving in the Confederate Army around the time Bennie was born on October 28th, 1864 in Senatobia, Tate County, Mississippi. Bennie had five half-siblings (from Gilbert's first marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Jones): Mary Cabell "Mollie" (1843-1884); Walter Scott (1845-1893); Virginia Rosalie (1848-1931); Gilbert Marion (1851-1853) and Eugene Jones (1855-1900). Bennie had two full siblings (from Gilbert's second marriage to Tyresa Brown): Charles Alexander (1858-1877) and Florence Agnes (1863-1938).

At the age of 18, Bennie married Gabriel Christopher Wright, the son of Gabrie M. & Mary Polly (Garrett) Wright, on December 28th, 1882 in Tate County, Mississippi. Gabe & Bennie moved to Columbia County, Arkansas shortly after their marriage, then relocated to Webster County, Lousiana between 1897-1900. They then moved to Tyler County, Texas (by 1910) until settling in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas for their remaining years.

Bennie & Gabe were the parents of six children: Elsie Maud (b. 1884 d. 1884); Charles Bevery (1889-1956); Gilbert Gilderoy (1891-1970); Alonzo Gabriel (1894-1945); Holcomb Prentis (1896-1971); and Herbert Lee (1898-1948).

On April 15th, 1936, at the age of seventy-one, Bennie died at her residence. Her husband, Gabe died a few months later.

TWO MEMBERS OF FAMILY DIE/Resident Here for 20 Years Succumbs At Home
Death yesterday claimed two members of a Port Arthur family. Mrs. G.C. WRIGHT, 71, a resident of Port Arthur for 20 years, died last night at 10:15 p.m. at her home, 2600 Ninth street, following a lengthy illness. Just seven hours earlier, a brother-in-law, W. C. MILLER, died at his home in Spring Hill, La. Mrs WRIGHT, a native of Tate county, Mississippi, was a member of the First M.E. church, south.

Survivors are her husband; five sons, A.G. and H.P., both of Port Arthur, C.B. of Beaumont, H.L. of Houston and G.L. of Woodville, one sister, Mrs. W. C. MILLER [Florence Agnes Carrington Miller] of Spring Hill, La; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Magnolia cemetery in Woodville today at 4 p.m., with Rev. Jeff Rhodes of Woodville officiating. Burial will be under direction of Grammier's.
