Charles Clyde Cabell, 70, of Quinland, W.Va., died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009 after a long illness at Boone Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 28, 1939 to the late Joseph Bethel and Ethel (Miller) Cabell Nicastro of Foster, and Bucyrus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Cabell from Kentucky and his son, Tony Cabell of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years, Norma Jean (Burns) Cabell and their two children and spouses, Debra and Ray Peters and Chuck and Amanda Cabell, both of Quinland, and daughter-in-law, Linda Cabell, also of Quinland. He is also survived by his three brothers and their spouses, J.B. and Carol, Kermit and Charlotte, and Ward and Marty Cabell and one sister and her spouse, Bea and Charlie Cochran.

Charles was also survived by his brother and sister in laws, Edward and Emma Burns of Quinland, Dorothy Burns of Quinland, James Burns of Madison, Deloris Burns Cox of Ohio, and Virginia Burns of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his brothers in law, Paul Burns, Harold Burns, and Woodrow Burns .

He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren, Candice and her husband, Josh Sharps, Nick Cabell, Whitney Rae Peters, Cortney and her husband, Reuben Browning, Zach Peters, and Alex Cabell; his great-grandchildren, Jayden and Cayden Sharps; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was employed by Eastern Associated Coal Corp. — Harris Mine until he became disabled in the early 70s. He was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed farming, fishing, cooking, being with his family, and his Friday night card game with J.D. and Donna June Loftis. He was the best Peanut Butter Fudge maker in the world. He will be remembered for his good humor, and for always knowing the newest joke. He enjoyed watching Survivor, Big Brother, and Judge Judy.

Special thanks to Debbie Shaikh, his caregiver, Earl Balentine, a close friend and helper, and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Boone Memorial Hospital.

In honor of Charles' wishes, he was cremated. There was a private family graveside service held at the Perdue Cemetery at Foster on Sunday Oct. 11, 2009.
