George Alton Abbott, 65, of Wortham, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at his residence. He was born on March 26, 1942, in Corsicana. Mr. Abbott was a retired oil field worker with Brown Oil & Gas Company.
Visitation was on Sunday evening, July 15, 2007, from 6 until 8 o'clock in Porter Chapel at Wortham.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, July 16, 2007, at 2 o'clock in Porter Chapel-Wortham. Officiating was Mr. Billy Ridge. Burial was in Wortham Cemetery.
Mr. Abbott was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Winona Abbott, and by a sister, Margaret Lambert.
Surviving are his wife, Esther (Meme) Abbott of Wortham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tauna and Duane Beard, Sr., of Wortham, Gina and Don Cargile of Groesbeck; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Herrick of Burleson; and
brother and sister-in-law, Russell C. and Kathy Abbott of Killeen; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one on the way; many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were George T. Abbott, Duane Edward Beard, Jr., Bill Herrick, Lanny Finley, Larry Beldin and Darrell Ridge.
