Frank Irwin Trevitt, age 93 of Mediapolis, died Saturday October 4, 2014 at the Great River Hospice House. The son of Irwin and Linda (Samuelson) Trevitt, he was born February 26, 1921 on a farm east of Mediapolis. On October 25, 1945 he married Vera Margaret Hutchcroft; she died October 31, 2008. He attended Amity country school for 8 years and then graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1938. He then attended Burlington Business College for two years. He served in the 34th Division during W.W. II in the Africa and Italy campaigns. Frank was a farmer. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis and was a church officer. He served two terms as a school board member. He was a member of the Mediapolis Lions Club and American Legion. He served on the Kossuth cemetery board and was on the Mediapolis Fire Dept. Frank enjoyed horses, the Chicago Cubs and reading. In later years he enjoyed “educational” meetings up at Martee’s as one of her “back room boys.” Frank said his family and friends were his biggest assets.
Survivors include: on son, David and Paula Trevitt of Mediapolis; two daughters, Deborah and Wayne Lowe of Columbus Junction; Lucinda and Arillus Holcomb of Rio Verde, AZ.; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; one sister Marian Carden of Danville;
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Vera.
