Russell Failor Peffer-age 91-A native of Dayton, OR and a resident of Grand Bay, AL for more than 30 years, passed away at a local hospital on Monday, November 23, 2009. Mr. Peffer was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII and was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He retired from Ingalls Ship Building after 20 years of service and was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Laura Peffer, one daughter, Margaret Singleton and three grandchildren, Nola, Scott and Karisa. He is survived by sons, Allen (Doris) Peffer of Irvington and Clyde (Lucy) Peffer of Grand Bay; a daughter, Joyce (Ronnie) Wildebrandt of Grand Bay; a sister, Mildred Schaffer of Dayton, OR; nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, November 27, 2009 from 5 to 8pm at Higher Ground Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2pm from Higher Ground Baptist Church with visitation from 1pm until service time. Interment in Oddfellow Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 250. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home 8691 Old Pascagoula Rd Theodore, AL 36582.
