Charles J Post died at his home Sunday morning after an illness of several months. He was the son of Isaac and Eliza Todd Post, and was born in Scranton, June 22, 1874. He graduated from Cornell with the degree of bachelor of law In 1896, and was admitted to the Lackawanna county Bar, and later to the Sesquehanna county bar. In 1899 he enlisted in the Governor's Troop at Harrisburg and served In Puerto Rico during the Spanish War. He was considered the best horseman in the troop and was elected the first president of the troop after the war. In l901 he married Elizabeth Velonta Post and in 1901 they moved to the Post farm which has been in the Post family for 125 years. He built Post pond where he hss conducted an ice business for several years. He was the great grandson of Bartlett Hinds and Issac Post who settled Montrose. He is survived by his mother, his wife, a son, Charles, Jr., and a daughter, Elisabeth. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon.
