At the family residence, Hopkinsville, Ky., September 30, 1879, in his 79th year, the Rev. Gideon B. Perry, D.D., L.L.D., late rector of Grace Episcopal
Church in that city; formerly rector of Trinity Church, Natchez, Miss.; first rector St. Paul's, Clevaland, Ohio; for some time at Grace Church there, and founder of St. James Parish, Cleveland, also. The Rev. Dr. Perry was the last surviving kinsman cotemporary of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the battle of Lake Erie. Both were natives of South Kingston, Rhode Island, and
born under the same roof; the Rev. Dr. on October 12th, 1800, some years junior of the other. Dr. Perry, for more than fifty-seven years in the Christian ministry, was a prominent divine of the church, and stood high, especially for force and pulpit eloquence. The Rev. Henry G. Perry, of the Episcopal City Clergy, Chicago, is a son of the deceased. The Rev. Dr. Perry leaves a family, his widow and three children surviving him. Among other degrees, Dr. Perry, received also his M.D. of Jefferson College, Philadelphia, Pa., and practiced surgery and medicine at an early day, both in the East and West. One of his
brothers, was Dr. George Hazard Perry, of Hopkinton, R.I.; whose three sons, Dr. Thos. W., at Providence, R.I.; Dr. Gideon B., in New York, and George H., in
Iowa, respectively, are at present all practicing. The Rev. Dr. Perry's son, Dr. Oliver H. Perry, deceased, was for some time Physician Assistant at the Kentucky Western State Asylum for the Insane, and graduated at the Medical
