Bennett "Mart" Martin Highfill, was born March 14, 1876 in Missouri and died at Woodward, OK, October 29, 1937 at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 15 days. On 20 May, 1898 he married Francis "Fanny" Garoutte and to this union the following children were born; Effie Skelton, and Howard F. Highfill. On July 29, 1908 he married Anna Viola Patton and the following children were born Eston, Erma Beeten, Margaret Fay Covalt, Cecil Highfill, and Oma. Mr. Highfill came to Oklahoma in 1894 and resided in this vicinity and the Haskew neighborhood until his death.
Funeral services were held Sunday Afternoon in the Haskew Baptist Cemetery.
