Bert M. Anderson, 78, of American Fork, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2004.

He was born October 31, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Neils Heber and Pearl Johansen Anderson.

He was married to Edith Shepherd (deceased) and together had seven children.

He married Sheri Ann Dean on February 28, 1991.

Bert grew up in Mt. Pleasant and attended school there.

He joined the U. S. Army during WWII and served in the Pacific Theater and received a Purple Heart as a result of a battle injury sustained on Okinawa.

Bert had a great love for his country, the flag, and veterans who valiantly served their country.

Bert served many years as a member of District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Bert worked many years as a heavy equipment operator in the Phoenix area.

He worked as a custodian at American Fork Junior High School and loved his association with the students and faculty, and they loved him.

He enjoyed running and participated in 15 marathons, finishing first in his age group in 11 of those.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri, of American Fork; seven children: Jolynn, Lee, Susan, Cindy, Kathy, David, and Kent; step-children: Michael, Jeff, Rick, Sherilee, and Shellie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Additional survivors include siblings: Bill Anderson, Mary Gwilliam, and Rhea Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 7, 2004 at 11 a.m., in the American Fork Twelfth Ward Chapel, 673 East 300 North, American Fork.

Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove; and, at the church, on Monday one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery.

Military Rites will be conducted by District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
