Ellen Kerley Manuel, 71, passed away May 15, 2017. She was born December 19, 1945, in Durham County, NC, to the late Frank and Flora Foreman. Ellen spent the majority of her life in Durham County, and was a resident of Guilford County, NC for the last six years. She worked at the Lemur Center and Duke University Medical Center, and was a former supervisor at the 911 Dispatch Center in Durham. A lover of all animals, Ellen had a special fondness for her canine companions.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eric Manuel; two sons, Bruce Michael Kerley and wife Cheryl, and Brian Charles Kerley and wife Katie; step daughter, Margaret Gordy and husband Michael James; five grandchildren, Brandon, Jeffrey and Tiffany Kerley, Amanda Murphy and Miranda Gilfillan; and one great grandson, Felix Murphy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Foreman.
Private services will be held for the family.
